We are pleased to announce that the Wellcome Library has been chosen by the Genetic Interest Group as the repository for their archives. Work will begin shortly on cataloguing the archive, so that these important records can be made available to the public as soon as possible.

The Genetic Interest Group, which today changes its name to Genetic Alliance UK, is an umbrella organisation for over 130 charities supporting people affected by genetic disorders. Members range from large well known organisations such as Cancer Research UK to smaller groups like the Behcets Syndrome Society. The archives of some member organisations, such as the Restricted Growth Association are already available at the Wellcome Library. Information can be found on the Archives and Manuscripts catalogue.

Although the name is changing, Genetic Alliance UK will continue the work of the Genetic Interest Group, supporting those with genetic conditions and their families, and campaigning on their behalf to ensure the development and availability of high quality services.
