Developed in association with the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, the Wellcome Library is hosting a study course based around our Korean manuscripts.

Date: 14–17 June 2010

Course tutor: Beth McKillop, Director of Collections, Victoria and Albert Museum, London
Venue: Gibbs Building, Wellcome Trust, 215 Euston Road, London NW1 2BE

Timetable:
Monday 14 June
15.00–18.00: Introduction to Korean paper, printing and manuscript tradition.

Tuesday 15 June, Thursday 17 June
10:00-16:00: Practical sessions in reading Korean manuscripts and block-printed books.

Wednesday 16 June
Visits to the exhibition galleries of the British Library, British Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum.

Handouts and learning packs will be provided, and a certificate of attendance will be issued upon successful completion of the course.

Participants should have completed at least three years of Korean studies; final-year undergraduates, postgraduates and others with a good knowledge of Korean will be welcome.

The course is free, but pre-registration is essential and numbers are limited to 15.
