Wellcome Library are organising a free one-day workshop that will explore the practicalities of digitisation and facilitate conversation between those involved in digitisation projects. The workshop will take place on April 15, 10:00am-4:00pm at the Wellcome Trust Gibbs Building, 215 Euston Road, London.

Digitisation Doctor (DigiDoc) is aimed at individuals from institutions that are committing themselves to digitisation, but who may have queries or concerns about the processes involved in a digitisation project. We’re asking attendees to tell us about the digitisation they are involved in and the different challenges they face so that we can shape the day according to their needs. Anticipated topics include: workflow design, conservation, metadata and sustainable access.

We’re bringing in experts from all areas of digitisation to share their experiences and answer questions. The day will include a tour of the Wellcome Library’s own digitisation facilities and discussion of how to set up a digitisation studio. Lunch will be provided, as well as plenty of opportunities to converse more informally with experts and attendees on the topics of the day.

If you would like to take part in the DigiDoc workshop, please get in touch with Matthew Brack (m.brack@wellcome.ac.uk) with your answers to the following questions:

1.         What sort of material are you planning to digitise?

2.         How much material are you planning to digitise?

3.         What are your greatest concerns about your digitisation project?

Please also include your full details and names of persons attending from your institution (up to 3 people). An agenda will be sent out to you once details are finalised.
