As we’ve mentioned in our earlier messages, we will be making some changes to the Library services and opening hours over the coming months during the works.

Relocation of the Rare Materials Room
The Rare Materials Room will be temporarily relocated. The Rare Materials Room will be closed on Monday 5 August to enable us to move the furniture, and will reopen on Tuesday 6 August.

If you would like to use the Rare Materials Room please come to the Library Admissions Desk and staff will direct you.

Booking system introduced for the Rare Materials Room
Reader spaces in the relocated Rare Materials Room will be allocated via a booking system. If you’re planning to use the Rare Materials Room to view items from our collections please book a space by emailing: library@wellcome.ac.uk. Bookings will be open from Monday 29 July, so if you’re planning to visit the Rare Materials Room contact us to book a space.

Scanning facilities
We won’t have a scanner in the Rare Materials Room on the 5th floor. Readers can use digital cameras throughout the open access areas of the Library. If you’re working in the Rare Materials Room just have a word with the staff before using your camera to make sure the materials can be photographed: some items have confidentiality and conservation conditions attached.

Monday closures
As far as possible, the contractors will carry out the noisiest of works on Mondays and we will close on Mondays from 12 August to 31 March 2014. Online resources will be available to Library members as usual.

Noise increases
From 8 August there will potentially be more noise in particular areas of the Library. Staff should be able to let you know if there are quieter areas to work in should you need to move to another area within the Library.

Stock moves
We’ll be moving some collections around over the coming weeks. Keep an eye on the Library blog for more details, and we’ll make sure the relevant areas are clearly signposted. If you need any help in locating items, just ask Library staff at the Enquiry Desk.

New Books display
We won’t be displaying new acquisitions for a few months, but you’ll be able to virtually browse all of our new stock online via our RSS feeds. Full details can be found on the Library website.

Keep up-to-date
Up-to-date information about the Library works and any changes to services can be found on the Library website. We advise that you check online before making a visit during the works. You can also follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
