From Tuesday 4 February, if you’re visiting the Wellcome Library you’ll notice a number of changes when you arrive.

As you enter the building, you will need to put your coats and bags in the free, Ground Floor cloakroom. We’ve had to take the Library lockers out of service for the next six weeks or so due to the building works. They will be coming back into operation when we complete the next phase of the development works.

The Library entrance will be temporarily relocated from Level 2 to Level 3. Once you’ve put your coats and bags in the cloakroom come up to Level 3 to see some of the changes that have taken place.

The newly expanded Rare Materials Room will be open on Level 3, and users will no longer need to make an appointment for a space to consult our special collections.

We will have a new staircase, connecting Levels 2 and 3. Yes, that’s what all the noise was behind the hoardings!

Many of the books have been moved around, and we’re in the process of updating the maps. Just ask staff at the desk for details if you can’t find what you are looking for.

If you have any questions about the changes, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
