Following on from our announcement about digitising our pre-1500 Western Manuscripts, readers may be interested in our Digital Approaches to Premodern Medicine and Health workshop, which is taking place on Friday 23 May, 09.30-16.45 at the Wellcome Trust.

The workshop will bring together experts in medical history and digital humanities to discuss existing and developing digital resources relating to medicine and health before c. 1700.

Specialists from Cambridge, KCL, Birkbeck (University of London), the Bibliothèque interuniversitaire de Santé, Paris, and the Wellcome Library will share their ideas and methodologies, consider the audiences for their projects, and discuss the challenges of mediating premodern content digitally. They will also consider what are the key subject areas and historical issues in premodern medicine and health that particularly merit exploration in digital formats.

Informal discussion will be encouraged, and the contribution of all participants – both the creators and the potential users of digital content – will be valued.
Registration is free of charge, but pre-booking is essential.

If you would like to attend please contact Elma Brenner: e.brenner@wellcome.ac.uk
