Library members interested in the history of health can find letters on subjects such as physical and mental illness, pregnancy and childbirth and diet. You can also search by profession, such as nurse or medical technician. But the letters also go far beyond health, into culture and personal relationships making the collection useful in interesting and unforeseen ways.

The database is accessible from anywhere with a Wellcome Library Card. Please let us know if you have any comments on British and Irish Women’s Letters and Diaries. Especially if you’ve used the content for something interesting we’d love to hear about it.
